The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Ltd (TANESCO) recently announced that it would open up a tender for the procurement for wind power projects in the East African country.
Once the wind power projects are completed, it is said to supply a total generation capacity up to 200MW from the Singida, Njombe and Dodoma Regions.
ESI Africa reports that TANESCO was inviting potential developers to assess the projects’ feasibility and transfer wind projects of a capacity of no less than 50MW, stating that no more than 100MW capacity shall be connected in one substation.
ESI Africa further reported that the tendering process will fall in line with the International Competitive tendering procedures specified in Regulation 119 of the Public Procurement (Regulations – Government Notice 446 of 2013, and is open to all applicants as defined in the Regulations.
TANESCO indicated that developers who previously bid for tenders on the development of wind projects in Tanzania, should participate in the new tender as well.
Tendering applications close October, 19 2018.
