South Sudan, Sudan Resume Nile Blend Oil Exports

  • Ministers of petroleum officially launch exports from South Sudan blocks 1, 2 and 4.
  • Ceremony took place in Port Sudan on Tuesday, December 19, 2018, at shipping of second cargo.
  • Producing blocks are operated by Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC). The operator has worked closely with Sudanese counterpart 2B OPCO.

South Sudan on Tuesday celebrated the resumption of Nile Blend crude oil cargo exports from Sudan to world markets.
Hon. Amb. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, Minister of Petroleum of South Sudan, led an official ceremony in Port Sudan to launch the second Nile Blend cargo from the export terminal alongside H.E. Azhari Abdalla, Minister of Petroleum and Minerals of Sudan.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Gatkuoth stated that the resumption of Nile Blend exports is the fruit of hard work by the Ministry of Petroleum of South Sudan, Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals of Sudan, GPOC of South Sudan, 2B OPCO of Sudan, the operating company partners (CNPC of China, Petronas of Malaysia, ONGC of India and national oil company Nilepet of South Sudan). The minister noted that the partners, operating companies and ministries together had made resumption of oil production at South Sudan’s blocks 1, 2 and 4 a reality.
President of South Sudan H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit and President of Sudan H.E. Omar Al-Bashir have directed the ministries to continue working closely together for the benefit of both nations.
