Moroccan-focused upstream gas company, Sound Energy started drilling at TE-9, the first well of a planned three well exploration campaign, in Eastern Morocco, on Wednesday.
The company said in a statement that the TE-9 well, which is located approximately 19km to the northwest of the recently awarded Tendrara production concession, will test the A1 prospect in the company’s Greater Tendrara permit.
The TE-9 main well bore is intended to drill both the TAGI as the primary target and the underlying Paleozoic as the secondary target.
The company will drill five horizontal development wells to achieve first gas by 2020, with an expected production rate of 60 million cubic feet per day over a 10-year period. This will require an extra 10 to 13 wells to maintain the projected production output rate.
The drilling of the horizontal wells is in addition to recompletion of the existing TE-6 and TE-7 wells.
Drilling is expected to be complete in between 35 and 45 days.
