Nigeria and Morocco are looking at ways to expedite the development of the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline – a 5,300km-long pipeline project linking the two countries.

Officials from both countries met to discuss fast-tracking the final investment decision for the gas pipeline project, citing its strategic importance as driving factors. The discussions centered on enhancing the partnership between the two nations, with parties emphasizing the urgency of alleviating energy poverty across Africa.

A cooperation agreement for the 5,300 km pipeline was signed in 2017, outlining a route from Nigeria to Dhakia in Morocco. Passing through 11 African countries, the pipeline will transport up to 30 billion cubic meters per year.
