Transitional energy company Chariot has secured Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval for its Loukos license onshore Morocco.

Valid for 5 years, the EIA includes the drilling of two exploration wells on the Gaufrette and Dartois prospects, along with an additional 17 candidate well locations and the re-entry of an existing gas discovery.

“This is not only an important step towards our initial drilling campaign but EIA approval for multiple additional locations gives us flexibility in future campaigns…” said Pierre Raillard, Head of Gas Business and Morocco Country Director at Chariot.

As the company enters the site construction phase, civil works are expected to begin shortly, focused on preparing the first well locations and access routes. Chariot remains on track to commence operations around the end of Q1 2024.
