GRIPS Energy, a leading German energy solutions provider, has reached a major milestone with the successful launch of its first photovoltaic project in Senegal. Located in the northern region of Diama, this impressive power station has a remarkable capacity of 604 kilowatts peak (kWp).
GRIPS Energy and Société des Crops Légumières (SCL), an agricultural company, have joined forces to provide renewable energy to SCL’s 2,000-hectare farm near St. Louis.
GRIPS Energy and the Vegetable Crops Society (SCL) have partnered to implement the “Large-Scale Solar Applications for Agriculture” pilot program, initiated by the International Solar Alliance and the United Nations Development Program. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the use of green energy in the African agricultural sector. This solar installation will not only help reduce electricity bills, but also protect power, thereby promoting local consumption and exports, particularly to the United Kingdom.
GRIPS Energy marks its debut in the solar energy sector in Senegal with the completion of this revolutionary project.
This achievement follows the strategic opening of its office in Dakar a year ago, as part of its mission to harness the abundant solar potential of Senegal, also known as the “Country of Teranga”.
