Italian oil major Eni is on track to launch its two-million-ton Republic of Congo based LNG project in 2023, CEO Claudio Descalzi confirmed last week.

The project – which will source gas from the shallow water Marine XII area – will consist of two modular and flexible liquefaction plants and will be launched in two phases. Upon completion, the project will deliver gas for domestic power generation and LNG export.

“Together [the modular and flexible liquefaction plants] will reach nearly 2 million tonnes per year of liquefaction capacity at plateau,” Descalzi said.
