Angola’s regulator of the nation’s oil and gas sector and national concessionaire, the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG), has made public the results of the public tender for the Lower Congo and Kwanza onshore basins.

Key highlights include Angola’s National Oil Company Sonangol qualifying as operator of Block KON 15 with a 40% participation interest, while British independent , Afentra, has qualified as non-operator with 45%. The remaining 15% interest in the Block is available to interested companies that have been qualified as potential participants by the ANPG.

Furthermore, in Blocks CON 7 and KON 7, private equity company, Enagol, has acquired a 10% participation interest and qualified as non-operator.

The remaining results for the public tender will be announced in the coming days, whereafter the ANPG will begin negotiations about Production Sharing Agreements with the winning companies.

The process for the tender, which is open to national and foreign entities, was based on the requirements for acquiring the status of operator and the formation of contractor groups for the onshore blocks.

The public tender for the 12 onshore blocks in the Kwanza and Congo Basins commenced on 30 September 2023.
