Angola to Chair OPEC Meetings in 2021

Angola has been elected to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) rotating presidency of the Conference of Ministers in 2021, during OPEC’s 180th meeting. 

This year, Angola served as Vice President to Algeria, with member countries serving in alphabetical order.

The Central African country joined the Organization in 2007, following a decision taken at the 143rd Extraordinary Meeting of the OPEC Conference. At the time, Angola was producing 1.9 million barrels per day, making it the largest oil producer in Africa.

Current member countries include: Algeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Indonesia and Qatar.
