Sapura Energy Berhad (Sapura) has been awarded a $182 million contract for drilling works in Angola over the next two years.
The contract was awarded to the Malaysian company by Cabinda Gulf Oil Company – a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation – for the provision of a semi-submersible tender assisted drilling rig.
The contract is expected to commence in Q2 of 2020.
In a statement released on Monday, Sapura said: “The project entails using a first of its kind technical solution to improve efficiency for the drilling campaign.”
Sapura further noted that the contract would contribute significantly to its financial year, as the company works on establishing its long-term growth.
In addition to securing the drilling works contract in Angola, Sapura has also accepted an extension of its contract with Sarawak Shell Berhad and Sabah Shell Petroleum Company for the provision of Sapura Esperanza, a semi-submersible tender assisted drilling rig.
Endorsed by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, Africa Oil & Power will organize the first Angola Oil & Gas conference, which will be held on June 4-6, 2019 in Luanda. Registration is now open.
